Have you ever been in a conflict situation and not known how to handle it? Have you ever feared for your own safety or somebody else, and been unsure how to de-escalate the situation in order to keep yourself or others safe? Or maybe you’ve found yourself succumbing to the condition known as ‘red mist’, where it becomes very easy to get drawn into things which can lead to escalation?

If this is the case, then you’re not alone, as many of us still resort to the somewhat out of date primitive stress response called ‘fight-or-flight’ when faced with a conflict situation. This is still an important psychological and physiological response that has evolved to help us survive when faced with a potentially life-threatening situation, so it serves a vital purpose. However, in our modern world, the use of ‘fight-or-flight’ is often not the most appropriate way to respond to an incident, especially when there might be a need to de-escalate instead to stop the situation going out of control.

If you happen to work in a sector where conflict occurs regularly, such as a customer service, care or security environment for instance, and where the threats to personal safety are very real and present, then knowing how to keep yourself, your colleagues and customers or service-users safe is a very useful and effective skill to possess. Of course, this could equally apply in a social environment when out and about, so knowing how to keep family and friends safe is certainly an added benefit.

Some people already have the knowledge, skills and understanding to do this – but what about those that don’t? Well, this is where training comes in.

Nick is a qualified and experienced trainer in Conflict Management and de-escalation skills. Furthermore, he attended and assisted at the recent NFPS Conflict Management Masterclasses held this year (2016), where he learnt some excellent knowledge and skills which go beyond the usual bog-standard stuff you get on a lot of conflict management courses. This includes skills based on NLP, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness and other related areas.

On this one-day conflict management awareness class, which is being held at Hour-Office in Shrewsbury on February 7th 2017, you can learn these skills in order to assist you to effectively manage conflicts and de-escalate confrontations.

Normally, this training is offered at £80.00 per person. However, for the first course the first 12 people who book on will get a 25% discount! However, due to space restrictions, the numbers are limited to 12 places – so book soon to avoid disappointment!
