Where can I learn to become a professional, fully-accredited self defence instructor?

Self Defence Instructor Training

Teaching self-defence can be both very fulfilling and rewarding at the same time. Increasingly, it is becoming important for people to learn self-defence in order to protect not only themselves (should they need to) but also others such as their family, friends or vulnerable people who may need their help when under threat. Not only that, there may be a time when people need to protect theirs or another’s property. This is why it’s important that they are taught a legally-defensible and effective system.

You could be the person to do this.

How fulfilled would you be to know that by teaching an effective and reliable system to others – one that has a solid foundation in law and risk-management – you could assist in building both self-confidence and self-esteem for them?

The NFPS Level 3 Awarding-Body Certified Advanced Self Defence Instructor Course is orientated towards this very goal. As well as providing one of the most legally-defensible systems for instructors on the market, the course draws heavily on the ethical and psychology-based approach that forms part of the NFPS ethos when it comes to use-of-force training. NFPS-trained instructors are amongst the most professional and knowledgeable on the market due to this very fact. Indeed, this is what sets it apart from other self defence instructor courses on the market.

The training for instructors includes essential knowledge on the law regarding reasonable force, as well as other related sources of law, health and safety, an understanding of the science of combat psychology and the physiological effects of the ‘fight-or-flight’ response – and how to manage this.

The techniques taught – by some of the top instructors in the field – are also simple and straight-forward to both learn and teach to others. Indeed, it would probably be simplistic to just call them ‘techniques’ as such. They are more than this.

What you actually learn are principles which, as such, could be adapted to both the situation and the individual during a potentially violent confrontation. These highly adaptable principles not only increase the chance of that person surviving, but can also substantially enhance their confidence as well. This adds immense value to your core training, as you are not restricted to just one particular system of self-defence in your delivery. The real benefit is that you – the instructor – will be taught principles which you can adapt and deliver according to your own skills and background.

However, there are even more benefits to you should you undertake this training with NFPS Ltd. Not only do you have the opportunity to learn from a leading expert in the field, with more than 25 years plus of experience. Successfully passing the course also means that you’ll receive a Level 3 Awarding Body Certificate in Advanced Self Defence Instruction – which means that you’ll receive self defence instructor certification that is fully accredited by an Awarding Organisation.

How do I know all this?

I’ve undertaken the course myself and, as an NFPS-trained and accredited instructor, I can fully state that it was one of the most worthwhile I’ve ever undertaken.

I’ve trained in martial arts for over 25 years now, and for the last 14 years I’ve practiced a style called ‘Systema’ (for which I’m also an instructor now.) As well as having a law enforcement background, I’ve also trained others in such areas as security, physical intervention and conflict management. Having once worked in a front-line role, I know from first-hand experience the dangers and risks of sustaining personal injury and harm as a result of being exposed to violent behaviour.

My martial art actually teaches principles rather than techniques, and this has certainly yielded advantages for me in the past. Also, some of the professional training I’ve undertaken in the past has allowed me to have an understanding of both the law and the psychology and physiology of combat. However, I realised that much of what I knew lacked coherence and I was acutely aware of some of the short-comings in my own knowledge and understanding in relation to use-of-force training.

It was then that I discovered about NFPS’ Self Defence Instructor Training and quickly realised that the course structure would help me to consolidate and positively build on my own knowledge and skill base to enhance my abilities as a self-defence instructor. When it actually came round to doing the underpinning knowledge and skills session on the course itself, I was certainly not disappointed. In fact, I wished that I had known some of the things I’d learnt on the course years ago! Without a doubt, it was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done!

Could this do the same for you?
