I am a very keen writer. In particular, I enjoy writing science fiction/fantasy as well as non-fiction. I write SF under the pen-name ‘Owen Law’ and for several years now, I’ve been working on a novel series entitled ‘Dragon Line’.
Originally intended as a stand alone novel, ‘Dragon Line’ has now been broken down into two parts: ‘Son of Prophecy’ and ‘Return of the Bear’. The reason for this was that, initially, the novel was around 300,000 word long! Depsite my best efforts to edit it down, it still proved a lengthy tome so I decided to split it into two. In fact, it’ll be a triology within due course!
The first offering, ‘Dragon Line – Son of Prophecy’, will be available soon – watch this space!
In the first half of the 21st Century, climate change and resource depletion causes western civilisation to collapse. In Britain, central government breaks down amidst catastrophic depopulation. Ten years later, the country is a failed state ruled by warlords controlling its remaining resources. Civil war, insurgency and insurrection are a frequent occurrence. Now, a new movement known as the ‘Ironsides’ have arisen in the north, modelling themselves on Oliver Cromwell’s ‘New Model Army’ of old. Their growing power threatens to engulf the entire island…
Patrick Kynaston, a soldier and former Police Officer in the service of a new Marcher Lord in Shropshire, escapes from the clutches of the Ironside Army after a battle in which his master is killed. He begins a journey that will take him to the limits and beyond of both human endurance and experience, and a quest to bring hope to a broken and devastated land…
My other work includes a collection of three short stories self-published on Amazon Kindle which also revolve around the themes of climate change and resource depletion. Entitled ‘Climate Tales: Three Visions of How Our World may End’, the website for the e-book can be found by clicking the link below:
